Access by Air
Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport is the main airport serving the Greater Phoenix area. With about 1,100 daily flights—about 500 nonstop—Sky Harbor is one of the most convenient airports. Once at the airport, passengers can enjoy free Wi-Fi at every terminal and public space.
Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport is located in the middle of the Phoenix metro area, less than ten minutes from downtown. The freeways leading to and from the airport are efficient, and your drive is short, no matter what part of town you are visiting.
Taxis and car services are located immediately in front of the airport building. Your hotel Concierge can call you a taxi if transportation is needed from your hotel. Taxi terminal access at the airport is as follows: Terminal 2: North curbside, Terminal 3: North curbside and Terminal 4: Level 1, north curbside.

Rates remain the same regardless of company, number of passengers and number of bags. The first mile is $5. Each additional mile is $2.10. Each hour of a traffic delay is $21. The minimum fare is $15. Each per trip airport surcharge is $1.

Van terminal access is as follows:
- Terminal 2: North curbside,
- Terminal 3: North and south curbside, and
- Terminal 4: Level 1, north and south curbside.
Take the Train to or from the Plane
Take the FREE PHX Airport Shuttle to or from the 44th Street and Washington METRO light rail stop. It is the silver and black bus with the electronic display that reads: METRO light rail and Airport Terminals. The free Airport shuttle travels to all three terminals, was designed for travelers with luggage, and mirrors the light rail schedule, running seven days per week.

Access by Car
If you prefer to rent a car, then picking yours up at the rental car structure at the airport is quick and easy.
METRO Light Rail
While you’re in town, you can get around with the new METRO Light Rail which runs from central Phoenix, through downtown, Tempe (and right along the ASU campus), to Mesa in the east. Stations are close by and run right by some of the area’s top attractions, like the Heard Museum, Phoenix Art Museum, the Arizona Science Center, Chase Field, US Airways Center, Sun Devil Stadium and many more. A one-way pass costs $1.75 or an all-day pass is $3.50, which can be purchased at the ticket vending machines at each station. During the week, trains generally run every 12 minutes from 5:00 am. to 11:00 pm On weekends, it runs about every 15 minutes from 5:00 am until 2:00 am. You can see the entire schedule online.

Additionally, a survey is available and will be used to assist future travelers with the visa process.
The US is advising visa applicants to apply at least three to four months in advance of their travel date. To increase security for citizens and visitors, the US has recently updated its policies for visas. Here are some guidelines to help you through this procedure:

This should serve as a visa resource for all visiting scientists and scholars traveling to the United States. - Make an appointment to visit the US Embassy/Consulate—Make sure you ask if there are any fees required. Please note that most fees must be paid prior to your scheduled appointment. Wait times for appointments may be longer than in the past. Schedule the appointment as soon as possible. Information on visa wait times can be found at travel.his.com/visa/temp/wait/wait_4638.html.
- Get your documents ready—Passport, applications, documents to support the application with employment details (reason for travel along with financial status), and proof of fee(s) payment.
- Submit—Your application, passport along with supporting documents to the US Embassy/Consulate should be submitted.
- Start early—Additional reviews may be required and this could add an additional 4–6 weeks to the processing time.

From the American Hotel and Lodging Association
- Don’t answer the door in a hotel room without verifying who it is. If a person claims to be an employee, call the front desk and ask if someone from their staff is supposed to have access to your room and for what purpose.
- When returning to your hotel late in the evening, use the main entrance of the hotel. Be observant and look around before entering parking lots.
- Close the door securely whenever you are in your room and use all of the locking devices provided.
- Don’t needlessly display guest room keys in public or carelessly leave them on restaurant tables, at the swimming pool, or other places where they can be easily stolen.
- Do not draw attention to yourself by displaying large amounts of cash or expensive jewelry.
- Don’t invite strangers to your room.
- Place all valuables in the hotel safe deposit box.
- Do not leave valuables in your vehicle.
- Check to see that any sliding doors or windows and any connecting room doors are locked.
- If you see any suspicious activity, please report your observations to the management.
Theft While in Traveling
- Make copies of your passport/visa numbers. Keep a copy in your checked luggage and carry-on luggage.
- Consider travel insurance that includes theft provisions.
- Leave your jewelry and other valuables at home.
- Make a copy of your itinerary and give a copy to a family member or co-worker.
- Make sure your smart phones, electronic tablets, and laptops are password protected, and stored securely at all times. Make sure you have a backup of your critical data separate from your electronc devices.
- Be sure to check the activity of your credit cards and bank accounts while traveling.
- Make sure your medical coverage is adequate for your travel needs.
- Make a list of telephone numbers of your insurance companies, banks, credit and debit card issuers, home police department, etc. so you’ll have them if needed.
- Immediately report the missing luggage to the airline.
- If you used TSA approved locks check your luggage to make sure it was not tampered with and for missing items.
- If items are missing report the theft to the airlines.
